The Taxonomy and History of Boletus.

Summary: The taxonomy and history of the genus Boletus is summarized and discussed, starting at 1753 until today. Earlier attempts to rename or reorganize the former genus Boletus s.l. or parts of it, are summarized, too. Sistotrema confluens Pers.: Fr., a humus-avoiding mycorrhizal species – disturbance as a conservation measure for fungi?

Summary: Due to changing agri- and silvicultural land-use types and nutrient input from var-ious sources nutrient-poor sites on bare soil are significantly declining. Thus, also many pioneer and mycorrhizal species like Sistotrema confluens have become rare and have to be classified as endangered. The species is described regarding its morphology and ecology. A completely or extensively missing humus and litter layer seems to be an important parameter determining its occurrence. It is discussed if conservation measures like litter raking or plaggen-cutting could be used to preserve or newly create appropriate sites.
